About Me

I am a classically trained singer. I have been singing since I was 15 years old and have experienced beautiful things I would otherwise not have had if it were not for music. I started teaching privately 12 years ago. I started out as a voice teacher at the Music Academy and Recording Studio I was working at and worked my way up to Assistant Vocal Director and Director of Music for Young Children (ages 2-9). I have worked with students of different abilities and disabilities ranging from Autism to Cerebral Palsy. I have traveled to Italy with my college choir and performed in many parts of Italy including Rome, Florence and the Vatican City. I have attended many prestigious Summer programs such as South Shore Conservatory, Boston Conservatory and Eastman. My passion is teaching.

How I Teach

Every voice is unique so there is no one size fits all teaching method. I play to my students strengths and use self reflection as a tool to grow from.

My Teaching Philosophy and Passion

My motto has always been “I have never met a person who does not love music”. I believe this more than anything because it all starts with having a strong emotional connection or some kind of emotion paired with it. Music is a release and done right can make an impact on the world. Creating a unique bond between teacher and student is one of the most important ways to success. Through respect, understanding, communication and honesty one can build a trusting relationship. I believe that by having these key things, I can turn any child or young adult into a musical success. My approach is simply listening and adjusting. I do not believe in the word weakness, only strength. I love coming up with short and long term goals for my students and practicing self reflection. We have to be able to look at and listen to ourselves to understand how we can strengthen our vocal ability. I choose pieces for my students based on growth. Where do they sit vocally on the first lesson and where can I get them to thrive? Accomplishment is what I look for in my students. Building confidence is one of the hardest, most rewarding parts of taking voice lessons because it makes you work hard, persevere and blossom into the musician you want. As the saying goes, “you only get what you give”. Each student that has ever walked into my room has the ability to grow both personally and musically. You will learn how to read music, understand it, build your ear, expand your vocal range and perform like you haven’t done so before and you will succeed with my guidance.
