About Me

Henry Zuccarello is an award-winning composer, arranger, and trombonist hailing from Boston, Massachusetts. Zuccarello currently studies at the Eastman School of Music under Christine Jensen and Marshall Gilkes. Previously, Zuccarello graduated from the jazz studies program at Oberlin Conservatory with a double major in jazz composition and jazz trombone performance, having studied under Jay Ashby, Gerald Cannon, and Dr. Eddie Henderson. During his time at Oberlin, he had the opportunity to work and perform with many jazz luminaries such as Gerald Cannon, Dan Wall, Billy Hart, Gary Bartz, and Justin Robinson. Outside of his formal education, he has also studied privately under composers John Wallace and Bob Pilkington. Zuccarello was also selected to become a member of the prestigious Oberlin Sonny Rollins Jazz Ensemble and performed with the group at Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center in January 2025.

How I Teach

My teaching approach is based on the philosophy that every student learns differently and that a large part of my role as a teacher is to provide you with as many different approaches as possible, allowing you to find what works best for you and your development. I am available to teach lessons in a variety of fields (composition, improvisation, performance, theory, etc.). I always strive in my teaching to emphasize the common ground between all of these different disciplines.
