Trombone Teacher
Based in Los Angeles, California, Chris is a freelance trombonist with extensive experience playing classical, jazz, contemporary and popular styles of music. He is a current member of the Civic Orchestra of Los Angeles, as well as the California Young Artists Symphony. Chris is a current student at the University of California, Los Angeles, pursuing a Master of Music degree in Trombone Performance. When he is not practicing, performing, or teaching, he enjoys reading, cooking, hiking, and playing the bass guitar.
Whether I’m teaching someone who is picking up the trombone for the first time or someone who is preparing a recital or audition, I value meeting my students at their individual level—tailoring my approach based on their needs and goals as students. Because every student learns differently, I tend to adapt my approach to each individual while still drawing from a strong foundation of pedagogical principles and keeping long-term growth in mind.
Students will be encouraged to study all of the following skills/subjects at various levels of depth and intensity depending on levels of ability and experience: - Listening Skills - Music Theory - Scales, Arpeggios, Technical Studies - Rhythm & Sight-reading Skills - Practical Posture during performance - Practice Habits
