I’ve been playing guitar for over 30 years and have experience teaching neurodivergent students. I have been teaching online guitar lessons since 2020. I studied music at the State University of New York College at Oneonta, where I performed in a variety of bands and had the opportunity to play with members of Spyro Gyra and Lettuce. After college, I developed a therapeutic music program for adults with developmental and physical delays, using music to encourage connection, participation, and inclusion. That experience helped shape my approach to teaching and my appreciation for how people learn in different ways. Since 2020, I’ve been teaching guitar online to students across the country. I enjoy working with people of all ages and experience levels, from beginners picking up a guitar for the first time to more advanced players looking to expand their skills. My goal is to help every student grow as a musician while developing a genuine enjoyment of playing guitar.
I have experience working with neurodivergent students and understand the importance of adapting lessons to meet different learning needs. I aim to create a supportive, patient, and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. My teaching approach is centered on each student's individual goals, interests, and learning style. Whether you're learning your first chords, working on your favorite songs, developing your improvisation skills, or exploring music theory, I tailor lessons to help you make steady progress while keeping music enjoyable. I believe the best lessons balance building a strong musical foundation with playing music that inspires you. My goal is to help students build confidence, develop practical guitar skills, and become more independent musicians.
My teaching approach is built around each student's individual goals, interests, and learning style. Whether a student is picking up the guitar for the first time or looking to develop more advanced skills, I tailor lessons to their needs and musical interests. I believe students learn best when they are working toward goals that excite them while also building a strong foundation in technique, rhythm, music theory, and overall musicianship. I have experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels, including neurodivergent students and adults with developmental and physical delays. My background has taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, and finding different ways to explain concepts so they make sense to each individual. I strive to create a comfortable, supportive environment where students can ask questions, work through challenges, and build confidence at their own pace. What makes my lessons different is the attention I give to each student's progress beyond our time together. I maintain communication with students and parents after lessons to share what we've worked on and provide clear guidance on what to practice during the week. When it would be helpful, I also create supplemental videos covering specific techniques, exercises, songs, or concepts from our lesson so students have a reference to revisit while practicing on their own. My goal is to help students become more confident, independent musicians who understand what they're playing and why. I want lessons to be productive and structured while still being enjoyable, encouraging creativity, and giving students the opportunity to explore the music they love.
