About Me

Hello! I have served on the voice faculties of William Paterson University, Assumption University, and St. George's School (high school). My protegee performed at Carnegie Recital Hall at age 15 and 17 from winning competitions, and performed with an orchestra from winning their concerto competition. I am happy to teach complete beginners and students with any reason for wanting to improve their singing. For example, one student wanted to improve so that he could sing better lullabies to his children. I am supportive and kind, and there is no such thing as making a 'bad sound' as I help you develop your best sound. I have prepared students for their music theater auditions and performances, college auditions, church choir. As a soloist, I have performed 8 major works at Carnegie Hall, at Lincoln Center, in Europe, and I performed the role of Tosca under the legendary Maestro Vincent La Selva in NYC. I have a Bachelor of Music from New England Conservatory of Music, and a Master of Music from University of Rhode Island. I have coached with multiple Metropolitan Opera conductors, and the technique I share I learned from the international basso Dimitri Kavrakos of La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, etc. Welcome to my studio!

How I Teach

I teach the healthy efficient technique of Dimitri Kavrakos, international basso.Having studied with multiple other teachers over the years, I realize that this technique is healthy and efficient, and supports the development of one's most beautiful singing. I do not teach "one size fits all."  I adjust the exercises to address how each student learns, and what is best for that student at the moment. I do have an uncanny sense of feeling in my body what a student is experiencing while singing.  I teach in a conservative, protective way so that young singers do not sing repertoire that has the potential to damage their voice in the future, and I choose age-appropriate repertoire. I have a vast repertoire from which we can select, or I am happy to help you with any song you have chosen. If the student is receptive, I like to incorporate sight-singing and theory into the lessons I am conversant in German and Italian, am expert in the diction of those languages, and I taught French diction for singers at university.
