About Me

Every child can learn to enjoy, create, and perform music in their capacity. This will look different for each child, and my method and style of teaching changes depending on what my students need. With each student, I will be positive, energetic, and encouraging, while challenging them to play, sing or perform to their highest level.

How I Teach

Each lesson will be adapted to the student's pace, needs, and interests. Sessions can be adapted to meet specific student and parent goals, such as fine/gross motor, speech, proprioception, language, and other goals, as well as musical goals.

Why I Love Music

Music has a way of communicating when other methods don't work. This is what I love most about music. I have experienced music's ability to help nonverbal students express themselves, communicate, and even attain language. Music expresses what words cannot. It also has a way of uniting people with many differences, gives people the opportunity to experience beauty collectively, and create something unique to that experience. My goal is to open this world to all of my students in whatever way they can experience it. I have taught future music teachers to sing, pianists to play, and guitar students to create and compose songs for their family and friends. I have had the opportunity to hear students sing their first words, and been able to celebrate those moments with their families. There is nothing like music to be able to allow each participant to enjoy the experience whether performer, participant or audience each person leaves with something special.
