Violin Teacher
I am a violinist and violist currently based in Miami, Florida. In addition to teaching I perform with various ensembles throughout South Florida including Nu Deco Ensemble, Florida Grand Opera, and the Sarasota Orchestra. I have been teaching for 5 years and teaching was a major focus of my graduate studies. My studies at the Eastman School, Juilliard, and Penn State gave me opportunities to learn from some of the world’s very best musicians—I’m passionate about sharing all I’ve learned and helping my students achieve some of their own musical dreams. In my free time I can often be found making espresso or tending to my tropical plant collection.
My teaching focuses on maintaining a positive environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and celebrating discoveries on their instruments. Students will learn practice techniques and strategies for overcoming musical obstacles, as well as build strong fundamentals to help them play more precisely, confidently, and comfortably.
I believe above all that students should be having fun playing their instrument! Student feedback on repertoire choices is always welcomed, and I do my best to tailor my approach to what each student finds enjoyable. String instruments can lead to injury when played with poor technique. My teaching incorporates elements of Alexander Technique and body awareness to help students develop their technique while minimizing discomfort and tension.
