Garrett Atkinson

Hi! I’m Garrett. Punk, rock, jazz, bluegrass, country, classical, gospel; if there’s a guitar genre out there I’m probably a fan. I have been mesmerized by the guitar and the ability to speak things beyond words through the means of music ever since I was a kid. I got my first lessons when I was ten years old. I have since earned an associate music degree, taught guitar for four years, and currently work as music director at my local church. I am extremely confident that you will find the joy of music with me as we learn whichever songs speak the most to you – and I am most excited to learn more about music alongside you!

My teaching approach is centered around helping students learn the music they genuinely love and are excited to play. I believe that passion and enjoyment are the strongest motivators for growth, so lessons are tailored to each student's musical interests and goals. At the same time, I integrate essential music theory, technique development, ear training, and overall musicianship into the learning process. By connecting these foundational concepts directly to the songs and styles students enjoy, they not only stay engaged but also develop a deeper understanding of music that empowers them to become confident, well-rounded musicians.
