Frankie Price

Hello and welcome! I’m Dr. Frankie Price – a passionate teacher, guitarist, composer, songwriter, and engineer (mixing and mastering) with over 40 years of experience in music. My journey into music hasn’t been a straight path; I initially earned a degree in Biology from West Virginia University. However, I soon realized that my true calling was to play the guitar. I took the leap, returned to school, and graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Music Production & Engineering. At Berklee, I double-majored in music production & engineering and film scoring, with guitar as my principal instrument. There, I worked as a stage crew supervisor (a highlight of my experience). I also worked in the local concert circuit, handling security, running monitors, front-of-house mixing, and stage management. Along the way, I crossed paths with legendary artists like The Rolling Stones, Madonna, U2, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Radiohead, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, James Taylor, and Robert Plant. After graduating, I went to Avatar Studios (now known as The Power Station) in New York City. There, I collaborated with artists such as Dream Theater, Medeski Martin & Wood, and Roberta Flack, among others. While in NYC, I began teaching guitar. One student led to fifty, and I enjoyed this new direction so much that I decided to teach full-time. I continued to work with independent artists by mixing, mastering, and assisting them in developing their identity and songwriting skills. In NYC, I discovered my love for teaching and education. Along the way, I earned a Master’s and a Doctorate in Music Education from Boston University. With almost thirty years of private lessons, I’ve had the privilege of helping students of all ages find their musical voice. I currently teach at Berklee in the MP&E and Screen Scoring departments. Also, I have taught, developed, and written multiple undergraduate and graduate classes for Saint Anselm College while creating a music program for the country of Jordan to use in its school system. I teach a variety of instruments, including guitar, woodwinds, piano, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, and more. Whether you’re passionate about rock, classical, jazz, country, or metal, I’m here to guide you through the styles that inspire you. My dedication to music education is grounded in making learning fun, challenging, and ultimately rewarding. Some of my career highlights include membership in the Audio Engineering Society (AES), the Registry of Guitar Tutors at the London College of Music, the Music Teachers National Association, the College Music Society, SITE (Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education), the American Educational Research Association, the ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Discovery Community, and the Pedagogy Arts Collective. I have been awarded the Berklee Achievement Scholarship, the Don Puluse Award for Outstanding Musicianship, a Statement of Accomplishment in Songwriting, and won Dunlop’s Band of the Week Contest. From Rock to Classical to Jazz to Country to Metal, I will teach you based on your skills, interests, and goals. I’ve been where you are, and I know how to get you started or past those plateaus. I can answer any questions you may have about music. I’ve always loved what I do. I’ve played music my entire life, and I’ve had the honor of teaching students from all over the world, from the United Kingdom, Germany, the Middle East, as well as coast to coast here in the United States.
