Her compositions have been performed around the globe at venues ranging from Carnegie Hall to Birdland. Hevner has composed music for national advertising campaigns, including GEICO, as well as numerous independent films and BBC productions. Her solo opera and film, The Raven, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, has received awards and official selections at dozens of international film festivals, including honors for Best Score, and was listed in Opera News and London Classical Review as a Best of the Year recording. She served as Composer-in-Residence for the New York City–based Metropolis Opera Project, where she composed several full-length and one-act contemporary operas performed throughout NYC. Her work has been featured in gallery and interdisciplinary performance spaces, connecting her work with visual arts and dance. She is an active composer for the music licensing library Fliktrax. Hevner wrote music for and collaborated on Miraculous Relationships, a project of Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra. She was Head Music Producer for Spotify’s U.S. Sound Up podcast Can I Kiss You? She has been teaching Piano and Composition (all ages) for over a decade.

How I Teach

My teaching approach is centered on meeting each student where they are and creating a learning experience that is both meaningful and enjoyable. I take time to learn about each student’s interests, musical goals, and the styles of music they most enjoy playing or composing. By understanding what brings them joy and excitement, I can design individualized lesson plans that build strong musical skills while keeping students engaged and motivated. Whether a student is interested in classical, jazz, pop, film music, songwriting, or another genre, I strive to foster musical growth in a way that is creative, inspiring, and tailored to their unique interests.
