Ryland Kelly

Ryland Kelly is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied bass, piano, and composition with members of the New York Philharmonic and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Nationally, he has performed at such notable venues as The Blue Note, The Highline Ballroom, Sullivan Hall, and The Kennedy Center. For the past 10 years, Ryland has dedicated his time to teaching bass, guitar, piano, drums, rock band, and the music production software Ableton Live. He enjoys teaching students of all levels and ages, and is particularly passionate about songwriting and composition. Ryland loves witnessing his students go from their first lesson to their first concert and beyond. Prior to founding Moving Forward Music, he taught music lessons in Michigan (Axis Music Academy and Grosse Pointe Music Academy), New York (Musipire and Bennett Academy of Music) and Los Angeles (Opus Music School and San Marino Music Center).

I use my music education, teaching expertise, and skills across multiple instruments to provide an enhanced experience tailored to each student’s individual needs. Whether it is taking students from their first lesson to their first performance, or taking the proficient player to the next level, I enjoy showing students how to play the songs they want while building a strong foundation that allows for continued growth.
