Hello! I have a Master's Degree in Music as a Piano Performance Major and a Music Theory Minor and have been teaching piano for over twenty five years. I specialize in teaching music reading and have written two award-winning books on the subject. I am passionate about classical music, especially the late Romantic composers. I can help you acquire great technique and show you the best ways to practice your music to learn it quickly and with less effort. Many of my students have been accepted into prestigious music schools and colleges. Let me help you to become the best pianist you can be.
According to my reviews, my students like that I am encouraging and demanding, but I make the lessons enjoyable and productive. One student wrote that "she not only possesses a strong background in music education but has a lot of experience in teaching. When it comes to her teaching style, she is a perfectionist. She will go the extra mile to make sure her student picks up the right playing habits early in the process. As a teacher, she is courteous, reliable and has a professional stance. If you are serious about learning how to play the piano, Kelly being your piano teacher may make all the difference." At your first lesson, I will ask you about your goals are and what you would like me to help you with. I will ask you to play a few pieces for me so that I may assess your playing and will then suggest pieces and exercises that will help you overcome your challenges. I'll guide you to repertoire that shows off what you do best while I help you work on the problems you would like to fix.
