“I want to focus on making music fun for younger/beginner students, and challenging for those more advanced students. Having long term goals, but clearly defined short term steps to work towards them helps students stay engaged and motivated since they can actually see the progress and why we do each thing we do. Everything is intentional, and everything is fun.”

“I am a viola and violin pedagogue, with training and experience in traditional and Suzuki methods on the violin and viola. He uses a teaching style rooted in the classical tradition, drawing inspiration from his own education and performance experience. Hailing from Brisbane, Australia, I have been based in New York City since 2021. I received a Master of Music in Strings Studies from New York University, a Graduate Diploma in Music form the University of Queensland, and a Bachelor of Music, Performance (Viola) from the Queensland Conservatorium. I am currently the lead violin teacher at Honey Academy, a violin and viola faculty member at Larchmont Music Academy and Institute Paganini, and I maintain a private studio. Previously, I was the violin/viola teacher at the Newark School of the Arts, and was an adjunct faculty member at New York University. My students have seen success in recitals and examinations including NYSSMA in New York, have been accepted into New York and New Jersey Regional and All-State orchestras, and have gone on to attend programs at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College. Growing up in a musical family, I began my instrumental training at age 5. After attempting piano lessons, I was presented a viola at age 7, and that was the instrument that stuck the most. I completed a Bachelor of Music in Performance on viola at the Queensland Conservatorium and a Graduate Diploma in Music at the University of Queensland, and in 2021, I relocated to the United States to attend New York University, where I was awarded a Master of Music in String Studies in 2023. I studied viola performance with Karen Ritscher, Patricia Pollett, and Graeme Jennings, violin pedagogy with Meghan Todt Williams, Alexander Technique with Eddy Malave, and performed in masterclasses for Sheila Browne, Garth Knox, Antoine Tamestit, Caroline Henbest, and Kathryn Lockwood. As a performer, I am in high demand as a multi genre international touring artist. I have experience in classical orchestral and chamber music, opera, and musical theatre, to contemporary and new music, pop, and punk rock. I have been a member of the Emo Orchestra since its inaugural United States tour in 2023, and have performed in many opera and musical theatre productions in New York City, notably performing in J2 Spotlight’s 2025 Off-Broadway production of Zorba. I am the violist of the Kompass Quartet, a string quartet co-founded with my classmates at NYU. The Kompass Quartet were the young artists in residence with the Craftsbury Chamber Players in Craftsbury, Vermont, during their Summer 2023 season, notably collaborating with composer and audio engineer Charlie Morrow on “Deaf Beethoven,” a reworking of Beethoven’s Die Grosse Fuge op.143, performed at the Bread and Puppet Theater for two months. Kompass are also regularly engaged in studio recordings, and wedding/event performances in the NYC area.”

“Study with a Working Touring Pro Musician My name is Chris Collier and I am a professional musician living and working in Nashville, Tennessee. I have been gigging professionally since 2015 and teaching private lessons since 2014. For the last year and a half I've toured with the grammy-nominated act The War and Treaty, and I also play with other acts like Amythyst Kiah, The Kentucky Gentlemen, Kylie Morgan, Safari Room, and others when I can! I've played in front of crowds of more than 26k and played multiple times on national television (The Late Show, Kelly Clarkson show, etc). I've toured playing rock, blues, funk, and country, but I also play quartet gospel at church when I'm in town, do sessions for RnB, pop, and folk artists, and write a bit with artists that I've played with for awhile. All of this experience means that I can help you whether your goal is to play in a band, audition for college music programs, write your own songs, work within a DAW, develop your general musicianship, or just learn your favorite songs! The list of artists I have worked for includes: The War and Treaty, Kylie Morgan, Thunderstorm Artis, Mike Hicks, Doug McCormick, Brother Maven, Aberdeen, Cody Webb, Caitlin Mae, Arlana, The 12 South Band, the 8 South Band, Safari Room, Colleen Orender, Kiera Loveless, Natalie Johnson, Katie Davis, Chip Colon, Faith Jackson, Hopscotch Mafia, Julia Allen, and more. I've recorded lead guitar on records for The War and Treaty, Jaye Madison, Arlana, Chip Colon, Monica Hutcheson, Safari Room, Miranda Powell, as well as others. I perform every week around Nashville, nearly every weekend in different states across the country, and have toured internationally through Europe and Canada. I graduated from Belmont University in the Spring of 2018 with a degree in Commercial Music, so I have had the "conservatory training" in regards to music theory and history, but also have the real world experience to know what a player actually needs to sound like a pro.”

I help students of all ages discover their creativity, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of music - not just learn to play it. My students have performed on some of New York City's most inspiring stages, including Steinway Hall and Lincoln Center. As a John Lennon Songwriting Award winner, a recent recipient of a competitive creative grant for my original rock opera Heavenly Music, and a graduate student in Music Education at Hunter College, I bring both professional artistry and innovative teaching to every lesson. In addition to private instruction, I write, compose, and produce original music. I am currently developing my rock opera Heavenly Music and serve as Choir Director at the Dorill Initiative, where I help singers grow in confidence, musicianship, and artistic expression. Whether you're a complete beginner, an aspiring performer, or someone returning to music after many years, my lessons are personalized, encouraging, and designed to help you reach your goals while enjoying the journey. I use my classical training as a singer to influence student led lessons that expand upon the principles of strong breath support, understanding the vocal mechanism and freedom of the voice. I use these same core principles not only to teach classical voice but contemporary and musical theatre singing as well. For piano students, I use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures Methods books supplemented by my own scale exercises and visual aids. I continue to perform in the Baltimore area and love to share my love of music with those around me, especially new learners!”

“Music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I began taking piano lessons at eight years old, and over the past 15 years, it has become one of the most meaningful and rewarding skills I've ever developed. Throughout the years, I've had the opportunity to perform in a variety of settings, from weddings to grand openings for research institutes across Florida. Those experiences taught me that piano isn't just about playing the right notes—it's about telling a story, expressing emotion, and connecting with the people listening. What makes me especially qualified to teach isn't only my years of playing, but my years of teaching. As an educator, I've spent nearly a decade helping students of all ages learn in ways that make sense to them. Whether I was teaching swimming, tutoring academics, leading clinical skills training, or helping beginning piano students, I've learned that every child thinks differently. My job is to recognize how your child learns best and adapt my teaching so concepts become exciting instead of intimidating. Piano has also been my own place of peace. No matter how busy life gets, sitting down at the keyboard has always been a way to slow down, think creatively, and reconnect with myself. It has strengthened my problem-solving skills, patience, and imagination—and, admittedly, it's also the perfect excuse to finally get the songs that have been looping in my head all day out into the world. My goal is to help every student experience that same joy. I want them to leave each lesson feeling a little more confident, a little more curious, and excited to sit down at the piano again—not because they have to, but because they genuinely want to.”
