About Me
Hello👋🏾 My name is Moriah Berry. I am a recent graduate of the Juilliard School of Music and have been privileged to learn from some of the greatest minds in the business. I’m very passionate about the voice specifically, as it is the God-given original instrument of humanity. The voice has a distinction from other instruments of being organically sourced, unique to every individual and unlike other instruments its functions are not visibly apparent to the natural human eye. I believe one must be very carefully, and specifically instructed on an individual basis without losing the playfulness of self-discovery and adventure. Much of who I am as a person has been shaped by my journey in learning how to sing. In so many ways singing has endowed me with life long skills in patience, self- trust, confidence, endurance, time-management, and most importantly the freedom of self expression in everyday life experiences. I wish to impart the same gifts which have been given to me to others. There is nothing more exciting and rewarding than have an opportunity to be unapologetically you while becoming more equipped for everyday life along the way.
How I Teach
My main focal point as a teacher is to give students a thorough understanding of the fundamental elements of singing and build upon these concepts and skills to the ultimate creation and desire of the student. We will explore different methods of breathing, focus on body alignment, mental imaging and singing with healthy coordination and freedom. I’m more than happy to help with any style of singing, however the health of the voice will always take precedence over all else. The goal of this course offers students the freedom to express their greatest and most intimate ideas through the art of singing. I want to enable students to explore all that they are capable of and help them discover their unique unfiltered voice both literally and figuratively. I have found the first few years of learning to sing to be the most important. I aim to establish a healthy, and flexible foundation for students that will only aid them as they continue along their journey of vocal mastery. Through this course they will not only learn about singing but they will learn about themselves. They will learn about patience, discipline, self-trust, endurance, positive self talk, goal setting and self acceptance. Skills that can be beneficial in every walk of life. The greatest gift I have received from the art of singing is who I have become through the process and I wish to give that same gift to every student I encounter.
