Dimitris Terpizis

Dimitris Terpizis is a drummer, composer, recording artist, and educator based in Boston, holding a Bachelor’s degree with honors (cum laude) from Conservatorium Maastricht and a Master’s degree from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, studying closely with world-renowned artists including Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, and Adam Cruz. Active internationally from an early age, he has performed and taught across Europe and the Americas, including appearances during the 2017 European Capital of Culture events in Cyprus and Denmark, collaborations with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra, and performances alongside artists such as Camille Bertault, Lander Gyselinck, Ruud Breuls, Yasmin Levy, Chase Morrin, Naseem Alatrash, and more. He has worked with ensembles including the Swing Design Big Band, Orchestravian, and Jesse Passenier’s Fringe Orchestra, and is active as a recording artist for singles, albums, and film projects. As a bandleader and composer, Dimitris released his debut album Amorphous Odyssey, featuring Panagiotis Andreou and David Binney, followed by a European tour performing his original music, and recently released his EP 6211. Alongside his performing and recording career, he is deeply committed to education, sharing a personalized and expressive approach to drumming that emphasizes strong fundamentals, creativity, and musical connection.

Music is the strongest way I know to express myself. When words aren’t enough, I turn to music. It’s a universal language that connects people, heals, and helps us grow. When I play, I’m fully present in the moment. Through music, I can communicate my ideas, feelings, and messages with the world. Because of this, I’m deeply passionate about teaching and sharing music with as many people as possible, helping them experience its therapeutic and transformative power.
